Training as a “Ski instructor for people with disabilities”

This advanced training is divided into 3 disciplines:
- Mono-Ski
- 3- & 4-Track Skiing
- Blind Skiing
After the 6-day course you will be able to safely teach people with disabilities in the appropriate disciplines from beginners to advanced skiers. We will train your own skills and intensively address the specific safety aspects of handicapped people.
Suitable for whom?
The course is aimed at people who have completed a ski instructor training or comparable course. It is also interesting for regular ski schools who want to expand their range of services and enable people with different disabilities to ski.

“Ski instructor for disabled people” | Mono-Ski, 3- & 4-Track Skiing, Blind Skiing
Duration: 03. – 08. December 2025, 6 days (practical and theoretical units: 5 days, practical and theoretical examination: 1 day)
Targets of the course:
- To learn the 3 disciplines mono-ski, 3- & 4-track skiing and blind skiing safely (to be able to ski on one’s own)
- to safely supervise and teach disabled persons in the 3 disciplines of mono skiing, 3- & 4-track skiing and blind skiing
- Lesson level up to dynamic short and long radii on red slopes
- Good basic theoretical knowledge of the respective disabilities and their safety aspects when skiing
Course times: Planned daily course duration is from 8 am – approx. 6 pm or 7 pm.

To bring:
- Confirmation of a ski instructor training course or similar
- complete ski equipment. ski length approx. 140 – 160 cm, helmet (compulsory)
- Learning materials are handed out on the first day of the course.
General information:
- Minimum requirement: completed candidate skier, children’s ski instructor or similar course (e.g. university, club training, other)
- Cancellation: If something should come in between, please cancel in time. We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance.
- It is tested individually in each discipline and also assessed individually.
3- & 4-Track Skiing
Persons with amputations or a weakened body can use 3- or 4-track skiing to practise the popular winter sport and learn to ski through an individual teaching structure. Skiing with crutches is possible on slopes of all levels of difficulty.
The introductory course will start with 3- & 4-track skiing. We will train your own skills and intensively discuss and practice the syllabus. Well trained and with the first expert knowledge you are well prepared to continue with mono-skiing.
Mono Ski
Mono skiing is the ideal winter sport for people with paraplegia or other mobility problems. People with good upper body coordination (e.g. paraplegia up to approx. TH5) can ski mono and take part in mono courses. Depending on one’s own abilities, all slopes can be explored without limits. Both chair lifts and drag lifts can be used.
During the course you will learn how to do it yourself and you will also learn about the curriculum. A further part of the course will be about the adjustment and adaptation possibilities of the mono ski to the respective skier. This is particularly important, as the mono ski must fit perfectly for optimum power transmission to the snow. At the end of the course, you will be able to run mono-ski courses independently.
Skiing with visual impairment
Persons who are blind or visually impaired can learn to ski or further develop their skills through an individual guided tour method. The best method will be developed together with the student. Skiing for the blind is possible for people with various visual impairments.
During the course we learn a lot about the different visual impairments and their effects on the respective “vision”. This is a particularly important aspect of skiing for the blind, because it is crucial for the correct guiding method. During the practice we learn on the one hand different possibilities of the Guidens and on the other hand we particularly deal with instruction methods and characteristics with the blind ski run.
